BENNINGTON — Brattleboro won Game 5 of the Vermont District 2 Little League 12-year-old series, 14-4.
Caden Wood went 3 for 3 and hit his second grand slam of the series and fourth home run overall to lead manager Mike Bingham's team. Aaron Petrie had a three-hit afternoon as well. Alex Bingham went 2 for 4 and added his second home run of the series.
Wood pitched effectively into the fourth inning and was followed by Jack Pattison and Elias Gradinger, with both relievers getting key outs to preserve the lead.
Alex Carpenter hit a late double and Sam Henry had a strong debut at the hot corner.
Brattleboro, which is up 3-2 in the best-of-seven series, will host Game 6 tonight at 6.
Bennington 4, Brattleboro 3
Despite being outhit by Brattleboro, Bennington pulled out a 4-3 victory in Game 4. Brody Krawzcyk was the star as he pitched into the sixth and hit a decisive three-run home run.
Zinabu McNeice started the game for Brattleboro and allowed three runs. Alex Bingham hit a two-run home run for the home team, which put Brattleboro on top 3-1 before Krawzcyk's home run. Aaron Petrie had two hits and turned a double play while playing second base. Leadoff hitter Jack Pattison hit a triple and scored a run.
Bennington's Austin Grogan had two hits and an RBI.

Caden Wood had two home runs, including a grand slam, and pitcher Huxley Holcombe helped himself with three hits in Game 3.
Wood hit a two-run home run in the first inning, but Bennington would chip away at the lead. Brodie Krawczyk hit an RBI ground-rule double to score Bennington's first run. In the fourth, Bennington got an RBI single from Billy Rogers to tie the game. The game remained knotted up until the top of the sixth when Jack Pattison hit a bases-clearing triple. Bennington pitchers would walk the next two batters which set the scene for Wood's grand slam.
Brattleboro also benefited from stellar plays by shortstop Alex Bingham and center fielder Zinabu McNeice.
