BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro 12-year-old Little League All-Star baseball team will host Connecticut Valley North in the first round of the state tournament on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the South Main Street field. Colchester and Essex will play in the opener at 1 p.m. in Brattleboro.

Brattleboro just defeated Bennington 4-2 in a seven-game District 2 series. Caden Wood hit a couple of grand slams during the thrilling series, Alex Carpenter drove in four runs in the clincher, and Brattleboro got some outstanding defensive plays from center fielder Zinabu McNeice and catcher Turner Clews.

The Brattleboro 15-year-old Babe Ruth All Stars will take on Connecticut in their Regionals opener today in Lynn, Mass.

Jeremy Rounds went 3 for 3 to lead Brattleboro to a 5-2 victory over Saint Albans in the state championship game. Jack Price, Tyler Millerick and Rounds all had a pair of hits in Game 1 and Hunter Beebe belted an RBI triple for Brattleboro in Game 2.
