BRATTLEBORO >> The Brattleboro Little League, Babe Ruth and American Legion baseball teams went a combined 10-1 in state tournament play and each one was crowned.

The 12-year-olds hit six home runs during a 13-4 victory over Colchester in the state championship game on the South Main Street field. Clean-up hitter Zinabu McNeice went deep twice in front of the sell-out crowd, while Jack Pattison, Alex Bingham, Caden Wood and Alex Carpenter also homered for the champs.

That tournament was sandwiched by a 4-2 series victory over Bennington and a pair of games in the regionals. Wood, who belted a couple of grand slams in the districts, had three hits versus Maine and a solo shot against New Hampshire in Bristol, Conn.

"We had the experience of a lifetime and I couldn't be more thankful for this group of kids," Brattleboro manager Mike Bingham said.

Adam Newton fired a three-hit shutout against Lyndon and Jeremy Rounds went 3 for 3 versus Saint Albans to help the Brattleboro Babe Ruth All Stars become the Green Mountain State's king. Jack Price and Tyler Millerick each had a couple of hits in Game 1, when Joey Rafus picked up the win.

"We're all really proud of this team. This is a resilient bunch that has a great bond. When one player makes a mistake, another teammate is right there to pick him up," stated Brattleboro manager Patrick Keppel.

Brattleboro then went 1-2 in the regionals, highlighted by a 16-5 rout of New Hampshire.

Leif Bigelow went 2-0 on the mound, struck out 13 and delivered the title-winning base hit to earn MVP honors up in Castleton as Post 5 prevailed in the American Legion State Tournament. Brattleboro's Kassidi Ramirez, Tanner Bell, Chris Lasch, Matt Dulmaine and Dan Petrie all made the All-Tourney Team.

The 7-6 decision over Rutland gave Brattleboro and rookie skipper Eric Libardoni its first Legion title since 1999. Ramirez racked up nine hits in Castleton, Bell drove in seven runs, Chayse Cunniff added six base knocks and Chris Hall led the way with a .462 On Base Percentage.

Post 5 defeated Essex 6-2, beat Hartford 9-4, downed Rutland 9-6, lost to Hartford 5-4 and then defeated Rutland in the finale in extra innings to earn a couple of games in the regionals.
