WILMINGTON >> Brattleboro Reformer Athlete of the Week Logan Park made a sliding save with two minutes remaining to prevent the tying goal and the Twin Valley varsity boys soccer team held on for a 3-2 victory over Green Mountain on Wednesday.
Jack McHale tallied twice and also set one goal up to lead the Wildcats offensively. James McGovern split the posts once, while Skyler Boyd and Hayden Reed each had an assist.
Logan Boyd made four saves for the 9-1 Wildcats.
WESTMINSTER >> Julia Eastman scored a hat trick in the second half as Otter Valley took care of Bellows Falls, 5-0. Colby Reynolds and Olivia Drew also tallied for the winners. Zoe Schemm and Keri Ticino threatened in the second half for the 0-12 Terriers, who will play at Twin Valley tonight at 6.
MANCHESTER >> Isaac Freitas-Eagan prevailed in 17:36, which is a new course record, to lead the Brattleboro boys to victory in a meet at Burr and Burton. Spencer Loggia (7th), Colin Costa-Walsh (8th), Trevor Kipp (10th) and Dan Jaro (37th) rounded out the top five for the Colonels, while Stephen Borst of Saint Michaels placed 25th overall.
Without their top runner, the BUHS girls managed to earn gold — nipping a strong Rutland team by just one point. Annie Takacs finished fourth in 22:59 to lead the way and was followed home by Alexandra Miskovich (9th), Elery Loggia (10th), Liz Morse (11th) and Emilia Dick-Fiora del Fabro (16th).
"Annie Takacs and Alexandra Miskovich both had very strong finishes and Emilia Dick-Fiora del Fabro passed a few runners in her kick to the finish to close the deal," said BUHS coach John Dimick. "The boys were once again very strong through their first four runners, placing four in the top ten and making it nearly impossible for the opposition. Dan Jaro and Phelan Muller continue to improve as the season winds down in league competition, with the championship meet one week away at MAU."

DERRYFIELD >> The Hinsdale boys and girls cross-country teams each placed fifth in the Cougar Classic. Mascenic swept the six-school meet.
Maggie St. John finished fifth and Rachael Girroir took 10th to lead the Lady Pacers. Alex Schwartz and Garrett Behan ended up 17th and 19th respectively to pace the Hinsdale boys.
"Maggie has had a great season going in her debut season, and Rachael is starting to really round into form. Both are hoping to place well at our Granite State Conference Championship next week, and have a chance to do well at the Division III Championships at the end of the month," said Hinsdale coach Glenn Hammett. "Schwartz and Behan are showing big improvements from last season. It's a joy watching them become more competitive each race."
The Hinsdale teams will compete at Hillsboro today.
