CHELSEA, VT. >> A Vermont woman has admitted to selling drugs to a man who overdosed and died in a bathroom convenience store.
The Times-Argus reports 25-year-old Tara Bent pleaded guilty on Wednesday to selling fentanyl. A Chelsea judge handed down a sentence of 12 to 16 months in prison.
Police say Bent sold drugs to 30-year-old Donald Farnham, who died hours later of a drug overdose in a bathroom at Randolph Cumberland Farms on April 23, 2015.
Police say evidence determined the drug was fentanyl, an opioid that can be up to 50 times more powerful than heroin.
Bent pleaded not guilty in July to dispensing a drug that resulted in death. Prosecutors said Wednesday the state wasn't comfortable with the charge because Farnham also had methadone in his system.
