BURLINGTON, VT. >> The Vermont Department of Public Safety isn't facing workplace safety violations in connection with the death of a state trooper during training last year.

The state Occupational Safety and Health Administration released a report Monday identifying two potential violations of general industry safety standards.

The investigator concluded that those violations didn't contribute to the death of 28-year-old Trooper Kyle Young.

Young collapsed on Sept. 17 while he was trying out for a Vermont State Police tactical team at the Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The death certificate listed Young's cause of death an "exertional heatstroke" and the manner of death an accident.

The public safety department agreed in a settlement to review practices and procedures for all special teams.
