ST. ALBANS, VT. >> A state senator accused of multiple sexual assaults has filed his intent to seek re-election in Franklin County.

Sen. Norm McAllister, a Franklin County Republican, filed the petition to seek another term on Monday. The Senate voted to suspend McAllister in January, but he hasn't resigned.

McAllister has pleaded not guilty to six charges stemming from allegations of sexual assault brought against him by three female victims.

The first trial will begin in mid-June and will cover accusations brought by a young woman who worked as an intern for McAllister in Montpelier. The second trial, set to begin this fall, addresses claims that McAllister sexually assaulted two employees on his dairy farm in Highgate.

McAllister served in the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2013 before becoming a state senator.
