JERICHO, VT. >> A Vermont-based National Guard infantry brigade is aligning itself with the Army's 10th Mountain Division.

On Saturday Guard and active duty Army officials attended a "re-patching ceremony" at the Camp Ethan Allen Training site in Jericho.

The Vermont Guard's 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team is one of only a handful of Guard and Army Reserve units across the country that have been selected for the program that is designed to ensure Guard and Reserve units can be ready for combat faster than under the old system.

The 86th Brigade is going to become the third maneuver brigade of the New York-based 10th Mountain Division.
