3 people rescued after boat capsizes on Lake Champlain

BURLINGTON, VT. >> Three New York boaters were uninjured after authorities say their boat capsized on Lake Champlain.

The U.S. Coast Guard responded to a call around 6:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of a bass fishing boat taking on water between Malletts Bay and Valcour Island.

Petty Officer Jon Canario says two adult men and a 6-year-old child were aboard the sinking boat when the rescuers arrived. The child had his life vest on and the two adults used theirs to wave the Coast Guard down.

Canario says there were 1-to-2-foot waves at the time, which were high enough to capsize the boat.

No injuries were reported. The boaters weren't identified.
