3-vehicle crash in Brattleboro still under investigation

BRATTLEBORO -- Authorities are investigating a three-vehicle crash at the Exit 3 Mobil gas station on Wednesday that sent two people to the hospital

According to the Brattleboro Police Department, Bruce and Mary Aiken were transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries at roughly 8:40 a.m. after the vehicle Bruce was driving struck a curb on the inside circle of the Exit 3 rotary, hit a parked truck, smacked into a sidewalk and went airborne before striking a light pole and hitting another vehicle parked at the Mobil station gas pumps.

Officer Adam Belville reports Bruce Aiken, 53, of Putney, was traveling south on Putney Road with Mary Aiken, 85, when the 2003 Chevrolet Tracker he was driving struck the curb of the rotary. This caused the vehicle to hit a 2007 Toyota Truck -- owned by Marc Bonneau, 46, of Brattleboro, which was on the off-ramp of Exit 3 -- before striking the sidewalk adjacent to the gas station, going airborne and hitting a BMW.

The Brattleboro Fire Department and Rescue Inc. assisted at the scene and all three affected vehicle were towed away.

Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact Belville at 802-257-7946.
