9-mile hike-a-thon raises money for BEEC
The Second Annual Hike-A-Thon to benefit Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center was held on Sept. 15. The event began at the Marina Restaurant parking lot off Putney Road. The hikers walked to BEEC on Bonnyvale Road in West Brattleboro. The 9-mile trail links together several Brattleboro trail networks and even some of the "backyards" of Brattleboro and Guilford. The weather was perfect, and the event was organized by Michaela Wood of the BEEC staff, along with other staff who also participated, including Patti Smith, Joan Carey, and Belle Coles. Another hike-a-thon is being planned for a fall foliage tour. Contact the BEEC office at 802-257-5785 for details. Donations are still coming in to support the events planned for the fall, and can be made on-line or by sending a check to: Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center, P.O. Box 2318, West Brattleboro, VT 05303.
