A. Dandrea named Rookie of the Year by New Hampshire Press Association
BRATTLEBORO -- Alyssa M. Dandrea, 23, of Brattleboro earned Rookie of the Year recognition from the New Hampshire Press Association at the association’s annual awards banquet in October. Dandrea has worked as a staff reporter for the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript in Peterborough, N.H., since June 2011.
Dandrea also shared first-place honors for best Education Story/Series for an article she and fellow Ledger-Transcript reporter Dave Anderson of Hancock wrote about school resource officers in the towns of Jaffrey and Peterborough, N.H. A judge wrote, "Great reporting on what a police school resource officer does all day. Their report allows readers to decide if the service is worth the costs as they’re about to vote in a March meeting. Enterprising news you can use."
Dandrea graduated from Brattleboro Union High School in June 2007. She continued her education at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, N.H., where she graduated in May 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication with a double concentration in Journalism and Media Studies.
She is the daughter of Donald Dandrea Jr. and Debora Dandrea of Brattleboro.
