A Day for Alleluias planned Sunday at Guilford Community Church

Saturday February 2, 2013

GUILFORD -- The service at Guilford Community Church on Sunday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m. will begin with a South African song of "Alleluias" as a way of celebrating both the miracle of the Loaves and Fishes, which is the children’s story, and the service of communion which will follow.

The choir will also offer another "Alleluia" anthem written by Kathy Bullock and an original composition by Peter Amidon based on 1 Corinthians 13. Pastor Lise Sparrow will offer a sermon reflecting on the gospel reading, Luke 4:21-30, in which Jesus is first proclaimed a prophet and then chased out of town. The Sunday School, provided for children through grade 8, will be preparing for next week’s Mardi Gras celebration.

Everyone is welcome. Guilford Community Church is an Open and Affirming Congregation of the United Church of Christ and is fully handicapped accessible and will provide an ASL interpreter. It is located one mile south of exit 1 of Interstate 91, on Route 5, just in back of the Guilford Country Store.
