GUILFORD — On a quiet road in Guilford, there is a small little shop where Charles Mansfield Bristol, of Sugar House Antiques, makes toy trucks.

Inside the workshop, one might imagine a group of elves working hard, as several trucks in different stages scattered around wait to be completed.

Bristol said that when he gets bored with one, he jumps over to a different truck. Each truck is carefully crafted to deliver a fun and exciting experience to its future owner.

It takes nearly four to six weeks to build each truck, and he is usually working on 10 at a time.

Bristol has always been building toys but started selling the trucks nearly 50 years ago, after building a tractor-trailer for his son.

"That is the satisfaction of building toys when the kids come by; you can see if they will like it or not, they just glow," said Bristol. "I like to build, I like being a kid, I get a chance to use it before I sell it."
