Aldersgate Sunday to be celebrated on Sunday at First United Methodist

BRATTLEBORO -- Worship at First United Methodist Church will be held Sunday, May 25, at 10 a.m. Scripture from Luke 24:44-53 will be read by Leslie Kramsky telling the story of Jesus’ ascension. It is Aldersgate Sunday, the celebration of the anniversary of the day in 1738 when John Wesley had an experience of God that deeply touched and transformed him.

The Rev. Cheryl Meachen will preach a sermon entitled, "A Heart Strangely Warmed" which will explore Wesley’s experience and encourage the congregation to discern or recall transformative personal experiences of Christ. Hymns will all be by Charles Wesley. The choir, directed by Jenny Hinton, will sing "Let There Be Peace."
