AMERICAN LEGION BAND SEEKING PLAYERS

BRATTLEBORO -- An invitation to join the Brattleboro American Legion Band is extended to all musicians in the tri-state area. All instruments are welcome. No auditions or tryouts are required. Ability equal to that of someone playing in a high school level band is all that is necessary.

The band rehearses every Wednesday night (except the third Wednesday of the month) at the American Legion Hall from 7 to 9 p.m.

Membership in the band involves playing in concerts in Brattleboro and neighboring towns, and marching in parades in the summer. The schedule for this year includes eight parades with a "jam" or concert before or after four of them; and 11 concerts. The Band leads the parade on Vermont Day at the Big E in Springfield, Mass., in September.

The band is also beginning to make plans to enter a national competition in Baltimore, Md., in 2015. In previous national competitions, the band came in fourth and second.

For information, contact either of the directors: Bruce Corwin at BC123@myfairpoint.net or Ray Brown at r.brown78@comcast.net, or the manager, Bill Wessel, at wessel@together.net.
