Annual Blessing of the Animals set for Sunday at First United Methodist


BRATTLEBORO -- Worship at First United Methodist Church on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 10 a.m. will include the Annual Blessing of the Animals celebrating the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. Kate Simmington of Winchester, N.H., and her therapy dogs, Keeta and Kallie, will present information about their ministry blessing patients in hospitals and nursing homes.

Congregants are welcome to bring their pets to the service or bring photos for the altar to include them in the blessing offered by the Rev. Cheryl Meachen. Treats and prayer cards will be available.

The Helping Hands Community Garden will distribute the pumpkins to children in attendance again this week.

Sunday morning begins with prayer at 8:15 a.m. in the sanctuary, followed by Adult Sunday School at 9 a.m. The group is studying John Bevere’s "The Bait of Satan: Avoiding The Trap of Offense." Morning worship begins at 10 a.m. with Pastor Tibbetts preaching his message, "Change In the Atmosphere," based on Daniel 10.
