HALIFAX CENTER -- The annual meeting of the Halifax Union Society will proceed the 6:30 Sunday evening service on Aug. 25. The meeting will start at 5 p.m. and is open to all.

The Society is on Stowe Mountain Road east of the Town Office and school in West Halifax, up the hill via Jacksonville Stage Road.

In this week’s scripture, parishioners are encouraged to honor a weekly day of rest and to proclaim a living God.

The Rev. Dr. Marcia Dorey will lead the 6:30 p.m. service. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is invited.

Next week, the traditional summer-ending potluck picnic will be held on the front lawn, beginning at 5 p.m. Bring something to share if able to, if not come anyway, there is always plenty.
