Armed robber leads police on chase from BF to N.H.; man shot and killed in Walpole
Typically, when the AG is involved in an investigation of this nature, it means there was an officer-involved incident. However this has not been confirmed.
According to the Bellows Falls (Vt.) Police Department, Snow and Lear Newton fell victim to an armed robbery on Friday afternoon, just after 4:15 p.m. Snow and Lear Newton is an office supply store located in The Square, Bellows Falls, Vt.
During the investigation, officers learned that a white male wearing a dark mask entered the store and displayed a firearm to the store clerk, after which he demanded money.
"Witnesses observed the man flee from the store and get into a dark colored truck which was parked a short distance away," according to police.
The man was seen speeding away from the downtown area of Bellows Falls and later observed in neighboring New Hampshire by responding New Hampshire police officers.
The man made off with an undisclosed amount of money and the store clerk was not injured.
A State Police officer at the scene on Old Walpole Road confirmed with reporters that there was a fatality. It is believed the man shot and killed is the same person who robbed Snow and Lear Newton.
Upper Walpole Road was closed to traffic Friday night.
