In Guilford...

SUNDAY BRUNCH: The Broad Brook Grange will present its first brunch of the year on Sunday, April 14, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Grange Hall in Guilford Center. This will be a benefit for the Guilford School’s 8th grade class trip to Nova Scotia.

The all-you-can-eat brunch will feature eggs and omelets, made to order, as well as pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, ham and home fries, with Guilford maple syrup. Other treats included will be home-baked muffins, coffee cakes, pies, fresh fruit salad, and bread for toasting, juices and gourmet coffee, teas and milk. No reservations are necessary. The cost is $10 for adults; $8 for seniors, and $5 for ages 2-12, under 2 are free.

SLOW DEMOCRACY: A meeting to discuss and brainstorm strategies for reinvigorating local decision-making will be held on Sunday, April 14, at the South Newfane Schoolhouse from 3 to 5 p.m.

Newfane Town Moderator Deborah Lee Luskin will facilitate a discussion based on the ideas espoused in "Slow Democracy: Rediscovering Community, Bringing Decision Making Back Home," a new book by Susan Clark and Woden Teachout. Reading the book is not required. Anyone who is interested in what can be done to strengthen the influence of small towns on their quality of life are encouraged to attend. The meeting is free and open to the public.

In Vernon...

SACRED MUSIC CONCERT: Mountain View Seventh-day Adventist Church will host a concert on Saturday, April 13, at 6:30 p.m. The MacDonald Family Singers will perform a concert of sacred music.

The church is located at 1002 Fort Bridgman Road (Route 142) in Vernon. The concert is free of charge and will be followed by fellowship and light refreshments.

In West Brattleboro...

WBA TO MEET: The West Brattleboro Association (WBA) will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, April 11, at 8 a.m. at the Community Room in Hayes Court.

The Association will review the treasury, its participation in both the town’s traffic safety study as it regards Route 9 through West Brattleboro and the planned gathering of West Brattleboro religious groups.

The group will also review the work plan for the year, the status of West Brattleboro signage, and discuss the upcoming events.

FREE BREAKFAST: First Congregational Church, 880 Western Ave., in West Brattleboro will be serving a free breakfast on Sunday, April 14, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. On the menu will be pancakes, sausage, muffins, breakfast casseroles, scrambled eggs, fruit, orange juice and other beverages.

BOOK SALE: The Butterfield Library on Route 5, Westminster Village, will hold its Annual Book Sale on Saturday, April 13, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Paperbacks will be 50 cents, hardcover and books on cassette $1, or $5 a grocery bag.
