BRATTLEBORO -- The public is invited to the 37th annual meeting of the Arts Council of Windham County on Thursday, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., at the Brattleboro Savings and Loan Community Room, 221 Main St., enter from the rear. Light refreshments will be served.

ACWC invites all interested in its mission "to strengthen the environment for artists and arts organizations in Windham County" to take part in the meeting. The agenda will include a review of ACWC activities over the past few years and discussion of priorities for the next few years. Trustees will also be elected to serve on the ACWC board.

The current work of ACWC falls into three major areas:

Advocacy: providing a united voice of the arts sector in

promoting the value and support of the arts. Work in this area includes a report on the current economic impact of the arts in the county, producing regional marketing material and presenting Student Art Month.

Connection: bring artists and arts organizations together for mutual education, support and collaboration. Ten public events this year brought more than 200 different artists and arts leaders together.

Nurturing: supporting developing artists and new ideas by providing business training, partnering with the Town of Brattleboro on a $100,000 NEA funded "Our Town" project, providing non-profit umbrella for eight arts organizations and projects and producing Brattleboro’s Gallery Walk.
