Asbury Church tackles gambling and the Gorge on Sunday

CHESTERFIELD, N.H. -- Over the past few years, all over New England, Legislators have been asking if casinos and gambling is the way out of our revenue woes. As a church, we stand strongly opposed to expanded gaming, but acknowledge that both our neighbors and sincere people of faith are not of one mind on this issue.

Asbury Church’s service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, will focus on a recent trip taken by Pastor Scott Masters and his family where they found themselves surprised to be standing on the floor of a casino. Although the message will talk about gambling, it will also take stock of all the ways we find to escape.

A potluck fellowship gathering and hike Chesterfield Gorge will follow worship. This trip is one of our trips to bring our congregation out from the pews and into nature, where sometimes God presence is most vividly and wonderfully experienced. Communion will be celebrated in the Gorge (for those who would like to partake), followed by lunch. All are welcome.

All are invited to attend. For further information about the church, the trip to the Gorge, or directions, e-mail, or visit
