Arena Civic Theatre casting for ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’

GREENFIELD, Mass. -- Arena Civic Theatre will hold auditions for "Jesus Christ Superstar," slated to be performed at The Shea Theater in Turners Falls in April 2013. Auditions will be held Sunday, Nov. 4, at 2 p.m., at The Jones Library, Amity Street, in Amherst, and Monday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m., at Artspace, 15 Mill St., Greenfield.

Performers should come prepared to perform a song of their choosing a cappella, learn and present some dance movements and perform selected directed improvisational theater.

"Jesus Christ Superstar" was the first professional musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, originally opening on Broadway in 1971. After international tours, an album and a film, the show was later revised and restaged in 1996 in the UK, and most recently had a brief run on Broadway this year. Arena Civic Theatre’s production will be directed by Catherine King, musically directed by Chris Devine, and choreographed by Susan Edwards Dresser.

Walpole Players casting for ‘Christmas Carol’

WALPOLE, N.H. -- The Walpole Players announce the fifth annual production of Charles Dickens’ "A Christmas Carol" as its gift to the community, to be held in The Helen Miller Theater at the Walpole Town Hall on Dec. 12-15.

Open auditions will be held Thursday and Friday, Nov. 8 and 9, at 6:30 p.m., in the Helen Miller Theater on the second floor of the Walpole Town Hall. With a cast numbering almost 50, all are invited to come and audition to join the fun. Children through seniors are needed.

In the keeping of the Christmas Spirit, as learned by Ebenezer Scrooge, the performances will again be held to benefit area food banks.
