Bellows Falls Connections 'Plants the Promise'
BELLOWS FALLS — Greater Falls Connections coordinated two "Plant the Promise" celebrations in partnership with the First Baptist Church of Bellows Falls and the Boys & Girls Club of Bellows Falls as part of National Red Ribbon Week from Oct. 23 through 31.
The goal of the "Plant the Promise" campaign is to unite schools and families in making a promise to create a community where we grow strong roots and work together to realize dreams. The red tulips serve a symbol of the promise, and when in bloom the following spring, they will remind us of our promise to each other.
The promise made by the participants read, "Today we plant these red tulips together as a symbol of our promise to create a community where everyone feels valued, families are strengthened, and we all are able to live healthy and drug free lives."
The Boys & Girls Club members and staff participated in the "Plant the Promise" activity at the Flat Iron Exchange, who opened up their flowerbed for the event. Co-pastors Steve and Terri Walton from the First Baptist Church of Bellows Falls participated in the second event. In a letter from the pastors, they stated, "We had a great time planting the bulbs. It was a big hit with the kiddos and the younger parents especially. Thank you for making this community even better day by day."
