Bellows Falls football team goes to 2-0


BRISTOL >> Caleb Lisai threw for 139 yards and a pair of scores as the Bellows Falls varsity football team sacked Mount Abe, 39-12, on Friday night.

Logan Cota chipped in with 79 passing yards and one TD. Jacob Streeter had an 87-yard touchdown catch and Liam Hackett hauled in an 80-yard bomb for a quick six.

Jahyde Bullard had a team-high 76 rushing yards and entered the house twice for the 2-0 Terriers.

Bellows Falls will host North Country on Friday night at 7.


BBA 7, Brattleboro 0

BENNINGTON >> The Brattleboro girls varsity soccer team fell to Burr and Burton, 7-0, in the opening round of the Lady Patriot Tournament on Thursday.

"The score doesn't tell the whole story. Brattleboro played a good game versus last year's finalist in the Division I tournament. There were periods in the game that Brattleboro was able to give the talent-filled Burr and Burton team good opposition," Colonels coach Edwin de Bruijn told the Reformer.

The winners outshot BUHS 19-6. Megyn Ayotte made a dozen saves for the purple and white, which also got strong games from freshmen Sophia Capy, Venus Fu and Olivia Romo.

Brattleboro's next game is today at 5 p.m. in Bennington versus Springfield in the Lady Patriot consolation matchup.

Twin Valley 9, Bellows Falls 1

WESTMINSTER >> Caitlin Hunt and Karlee Walkowiak each had their first-career hat trick to power the Wildcats to victory on Friday. Hailey Howe tallied twice and Kassidy Walkowiak also split the posts.

"Twin Valley controlled from start to finish," said Wildcats coach Chris Walling.

TwiN Valley's Celia Betit and Grace Rizio combined for eight saves. Kyla Lavoy and Hunt led the winners with two assists each.

Madi Pencek made 14 stops in goal for the Terriers, which got a tally from Brianna Donahue (3rd of the season) and continuous hustle from Zoe Schemm in the midfield.

The 2-1 Wildcats will welcome Leland & Gray today at 6 p.m, and the 0-3 Terriers will play at Springfield on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.


TOWNSHEND >> Pat Meyer and Bryce Karg each had one goal and one assist to help Leland & Gray to a 4-1 victory over BFA-Fairfax on Saturday.

The Rebels ran out to a 3-0 lead in the first 20 minutes of action. Karson Petty and Pat McDonald also scored for the winners.

Leland & Gray (1-1-1) will host Twin Valley on Tuesday.


KEENE, N.H. >> Bill Pettengill, of Brattleboro, sank his fourth-career hole in one. This ace came at Bretwood Golf Course, using a nine-iron on a Par 3, and was witnessed by Rafe Fortier, Dave Washburn and Bruce Fenn.
