BELLOWS FALLS -- Bellows Falls Area Senior Center is a warm and welcoming gathering place for seniors located on Tuttle Street in Bellows Falls. The center offers healthy meals and interesting and enjoyable activities. Meals are served weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The suggested donation for meals is $3.50.

Activities include: Knit and Stitch, Cards, Chair Caning, Art Classes, Quilting, Music, Nickel Bingo, and Bone Builders. Margaret Heale, RN has appointments on the second and fourth Tuesdays to do foot care. Blood pressure checks are available on the first Fridays. A new activity is the First Friday Art Club offering crafts and holiday decorations.

Several trips are planned for the year, including: an April overnight trip to New York City and Westpoint with a visit to the September 11 Memorial and other points of interests; on May 14, a Tribute to John Denver at Mohegan Sun with lunch and show; May 15-19 (five days and four nights) to Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown, Va., by train; June 19, Boston Tea Party with ships, related museum exhibits, Abigail Adams Tea Room and a visit with John Adams; on July 7, The Boston Pops and Vince Gill at Tanglewood with lunch at Lord Jeffrey Inn; and several other great trips throughout the year.

The menu for the week of March 4 through 8 is:

Monday: Glazed ham loaf, mashed potatoes, baby carrots, rye bread, ricotta cheese cookies.

Tuesday: Pork Tenderpress with white sauce, mashed red potatoes, seasoned turnips with butter, wheat bread, apple crisp.

Wednesday: Lasagna with cheese and beef, green leaf salad, dressing, wheat roll, fruited Jell-O with cream.

Thursday: Barbecued chicken, O’Brien red potatoes, spinach, dinner roll, pumpkin cookie with raisins.

Friday: Baked fish, tartar sauce, rice pilaf with vegetables, Broccoli Normandy, wheat bread, peaches.

An AARP Safety Driving Course is scheduled for April 26 at 8 a.m., sign up is required. Director Teagen Kosut would like suggestions for future activities, programs and events. Income tax preparation is available by appointment.

The Senior Center serves Rockingham, Westminster, Grafton, Athens, North Walpole, N.H., and Walpole, N.H. Senior visitors from other surrounding towns are welcome. For additional information, call 802-463-3907 or visit
