Bellows Falls Woman's Club to meet Oct. 11

BELLOWS FALLS >> Members of the Bellows Falls Woman's Club will meet on Oct. 11, at the United Church, School St., beginning at noon, for a soup and salad luncheon hosted by the Executive Board. Attendees will pay $5 for the meal.

The program presenter will be Rev. Alison Jacobs of the United Church, speaking on a project known as "Bead For Life." This is an international, entrepreneurial hand made jewelry business started by Ugandan women seeking to lift their families out of poverty.

At the Sept. 13 club meeting, members and guests heard Archer Mayor speak on his life journey and what inspired him to become a police officer, medical examiner, and renowned author of mysteries set in our area.

The club held a very successful yard sale on Sept. 24. Proceeds from the sale help fund the community outreach of the club as well as the club's annually awarded high school scholarship. A food and bake sale will be held on Oct. 22, in conjunction with the Walpole, N.H., Library's book sale at the Walpole Elementary School.

The Bellows Falls Woman's Club is a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs and the GFWC-VT. The state federation will hold its fall meeting on Oct. 8, hosted by the GFWC Club of Southern Windsor County in Springfield. Local club members will attend.

GFWC is an international women's organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.
