Bennington car crash kills one sister, leaves two hospitalized
At around 11:10 a.m., The Bennington Police Department, Rescue and Fire Department were dispatched to the scene, finding that a 2007 blue Buick sedan, that had apparently been traveling west on Crescent Boulevard, had collided with a large pine tree and spun completely around.
Police quickly determined that the three occupants of the vehicle were sisters.
The operator, Yvette Blott, 85 was pinned behind the steering wheel upon impact, while the sister in the right front passenger seat, Colette D. Blott, 82 immediately began tending to Rachele M. Blott, 81, who was in the back seat when police arrived.
All three sisters were treated at the scene by police and EMTs. Rachele Blott was administered CPR by both police officers and rescue squad members before being transported to SVMC. The operator, Yvette Blott, was extricated from the vehicle by way of the jaws of life and has since been transferred from SVMC to Albany Medical Center for back injuries, while Collette Blott remains in stable condition at SVMC with injuries to her lower extremities.
Rachele Blott died from injuries sustained from the accident.
This crash is still being investigated by the Bennington Police Department. Officers are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or has information, to call Bennington Police for an interview.
