Bennington man pleads not guilty to shooting deer from SUV
BENNINGTON (AP) -- A Vermont man has pleaded not guilty to shooting a deer from the window of a sport utility vehicle in Bennington.
A game warden said when Joshua Hayes was asked to pull over on Nov. 24, he had an antlered white tail deer in the back.
A witness said he heard a gunshot as he drove toward the SUV, and saw a gun barrel go from outside the driver’s window back into the vehicle. Another witness who heard the shot said two people walked out of the SUV and went into the woods.
The Bennington Banner reports the 21-year-old Hayes was released on conditions he not possess a firearm.
