BF boys earn gold

CHESTER -- Jamie Moore won the 800, 1500 and 3000 races to lead the Bellows Falls boys track and field team to the Division 3 title on Saturday at Green Mountain. The Terriers actually took the top three spots in the 3000, with Willie Moore earning silver and Collin Johnson claiming the bronze.

TJ Bernier swept the hurdles (110 and 300) and was the runnerup in the discus. David Dunbar finished first in the high jump and second in the triple jump, while Kendrick Mills got the silver in the pole vault and wound up third in the triple jump.

Enny Mustapha had a huge day for the Bellows Falls girls, who placed second in the team standings. She won the shot put and javelin, was second in the discus, and teamed up with Sarah Wells, Chapin Reis and Cassidy Santorelli to win the 4x100 relay.

The Bellows Falls girls had a fine showing in the pole vault, with Brit Moyna taking second, Santorelli third, and Mariah Barnett fourth. Moyna would also strike gold in the 100 hurdles and take third in the 300 hurdles.

At the Division 1 meet in Burlington, the Brattleboro girls and boys teams each placed 11th. Myles Goldenbird took third in the javelin to lead the Colonel boys, while Paxton Reed (triple jump) and Josh Parro (long jump) each ended up in sixth. Ursula Casey finished fifth in the triple jump to pace the BUHS girls.

Twin Valley’s Oscar Smith shined in the Division 4 meet on Friday at Green Mountain, as he placed third in the 300 hurdles, fourth in the 110 hurdles, and teamed up with Eli Park, Conall Sullivan and Nick Nilsen for a fourth in the 4x100 relay. Jared Lambert earned bronze in the shot put for the Wildcats, and Alex Kennedy led the Twin Valley girls with a fourth in the 100 hurdles.
