BF girls trounce Long Trail

WESTMINSTER >> Freshmen Molly Kelly and Emma Lawrence scored 10 and nine points respectively as the Bellows Falls varsity girls basketball team routed Long Trail, 46-13, on Monday evening.

"Alyson Bashaw played man (defense) on Long Trail's top scorer and held her to four points," said Bellows Falls coach Joe Goodhue. "The key to the game was defense. It was a great team effort."

Murphy Hicks pulled down 14 rebounds for the winners. Keri Ticino and Abbe Cravinho each finished with six steals.

The 1-1 Terriers will host Proctor tonight.

Girls Basketball

PROCTOR 37, TWIN VALLEY 18

PROCTOR >> Olivia Valerio scored a game-high 12 points and her Phantoms improved to 3-0.

"We had just way too many turnovers," said Twin Valley coach Buddy Hayford. The Wildcats gave the ball away 24 times, but outrebounded the winners 29-17.

Tayler Courchesne paced Twin Valley offensively with nine points. Kirra Courchesne finished with five points, seven boards and four blocks.

The 2-2 Wildcats will play at Arlington on Thursday.

Women's Rec Basketball

BRATTLEBORO >> In Monday's action at the Gibson-Aiken Center, Houghton downed Lawton's Floor Design 50-45 and Marina defeated Lawrence & Lober 39-36.

Annie Holiday (15 points), Kate Margaitis (13) and Bri Smith (12) did the damage for Houghton. Mary Richardson and Mariah Norcia each poured in 15 points for Lawton's while Erin Elizabeth followed with 13.

Ashley Gomarlo and Vanessa Canilli scored 13 and 12 points respecitvely to pace Marina. Whitney Allen netted nine points to lead Lawrence & Lober.
