BF’s Stone Church Arts hosts Elizabeth Rogers

Wednesday November 21, 2012

BELLOWS FALLS -- Opera singer turned singer/songwriter Elizabeth Rogers will perform as part of the Stone Church Arts concert series on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., in the chapel of Immanuel Episcopal Church, 20 Church St.

Born and raised in Manhattan, Rogers started singing at the age of 9 with the New York City Opera and the Metropolitan Opera companies. Since leaving her hometown she has toured internationally as a classical and jazz singer. In 2000, she moved to the north of Scotland, where she spent most of the following decade living in an intentional community called Findhorn. It was there that she found her voice as a songwriter and subsequently produced two albums of music: "One Fine Day" (2004) and "Breathe and Begin" (2010). She is often compared to Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell, writing songs of life stories and the search for home.

In 2009, Rogers returned to the United States and has continued to tour occasionally. She attempted to settle down in southern Vermont last year, and while it is a place that remains dear to her heart, she is currently calling Cape Cod her home. For information, visit
