Body of missing man, 28, found in suburban NYC lake

YORKTOWN, N.Y. >> Authorities say divers have recovered the body of a man who went missing in a suburban New York City lake earlier this week.

The Journal News reports Yorktown police say the body of Darrin Dyckoff was recovered Tuesday morning in Sparkle Lake by a state police recovery team.

The 28-year-old Amawalk man had been seen floating on an inflatable raft Monday afternoon.

Stephen Reid says he saw Dyckoff floating across the Westchester County lake on Monday. He says he didn't hear the man yell for help, but saw the empty raft and jumped into the water. He says he paddled around the lake searching for Dyckoff.

The newspaper says there was no lifeguard on duty. Signs prohibited swimming and said the beach was closed.
