Bondville Fair asks for entries in flowers, vegetables and hay categories
BONDVILLE >> Take part in one of Vermont's oldest traditions at Vermont's oldest fair.
The Ailene Capen Floral Hall is once again the place where garden produce, cooking specialties, artistic endeavors and original works are on display. There are three new categories to be judged and awarded this year: pickles, bread and handmade clothing.
Entries are accepted Aug. 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Aug. 26 from 9 to 10 a.m. Two items per category for adults are allowed with unlimited entries for vegetables, fruit and all children items in all categories. Judging will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Aug. 26. The hall is open for viewing from noon on Friday until closing and opens at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Entries must be picked up by 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28.
The 2016 exhibit categories are: vegetables, fruits and eggs, plants and cut flowers, hay, preserves and pickles, baked goods and bread, needlecraft and clothing and arts and crafts (must have been created within two years and not been awarded a cash prize Bondville Fair.)
Ribbons and cash prizes are awarded for 1st ($4), 2nd ($3) and 3rd ($2) place in each category with rosettes awarded for outstanding displays. Children under 16 are judged separately in the vegetable and arts and crafts categories.
