Brattleboro boys fade late

SAINT JOHNSBURY — The Brattleboro Union High School varsity boys basketball team took a 10-point lead into the fourth quarter before losing to Saint Johnsbury, 66-58.

Antonio Carlisle poured in 23 points to lead the Hilltoppers, who entered the game with an 0-3 mark. Austin Wendell followed with 18 points.

Dylan DeJordy scored 18 points to lead the Colonels, who were ahead 49-39 with eight minutes remaining.

Brattleboro, which had previously downed Leland & Gray 76-46, dropped to 2-2 overall.

Girls Basketball

HINSDALE 40, MONADNOCK 39

SWANZEY, N.H. >> Skyler LeClair drove the baseline in the final seconds and sank a game-winning floater to give the Hinsdale varsity girls basketball team a 40-39 victory over Monadnock.

"They were a very big team, and all night we had to fight to try and control the paint. As the game went on, we did a better and better job," said Hinsdale coach Terry Bonnette.

LeClair paced the winners with 22 points. Mariah Nichols followed with nine.

"I am very proud of the girls. They battled all night long and all eight girls contributed," stated Bonnette.

The Pacers will host Pittsfield on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Alumni Hockey

SAXTONS RIVER >> The annual Nick Grout Memorial PVA Vermont vs. New Hampshire Alumni Hockey Game will be played on Saturday, Dec. 26, starting at 7 p.m., at the Vermont Academy Ice Rink.
