Brattleboro falls to Drury
NORTH ADAMS, MASS. — The Drury varsity girls basketball team hit its free throws down the stretch to hold on for a 52-42 win over Brattleboro on Tuesday evening.
Drury, which had a 33-12 edge in foul shots on the night, took a 32-14 lead to the intermission. The hosts upped their lead to 21 points early in the third quarter.
"Most teams would have rolled over at that point. Not this group," said BUHS coach Paul Freed, whose Colonels battled back to within four points with just under three minutes remaining.
Devin Millerick and Morgan Derosia carried the Colonels offensively with 17 and eight points respectively. Shenise Taliaferro (7 rebounds, 2 blocks), Jaida Henry (11 rebounds) and Meghan Sargent (5 points) also contributed.
"Our bench never let up, with loud cheers and clapping. It was a true team effort," noted coach Freed, whose team dropped to 1-6 overall.
