Story & Snack @ KidsPLAYce: Nov. 3, 10, 17, 24 (Fridays), 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Bring the kids to KidsPLAYce at 20 Elliot Street for a story and healthy snack from the Co-op. Free and open participation during the Co-op hour, but KidsPLAYce fees apply if you want to stay and play.
Gallery Walk Tasting: Friday, Nov. 3, 4 to 6 p.m. Free tasting and sampling during Gallery Walk in town. Free event at the Co-op
Free Spin Class: Monday, Nov. 6, 5:15 to 6 p.m. Every first Monday of the month, take a spin class with Susie (from Seafood). Location: BODY in Harmony Fitness Studio, 22 High Street, Brattleboro.
Class for Adults: Something Made, Something New, Something Fresh, Not Much to Do (Breakfast), Tuesday, Nov. 7, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Learn how to make quick, healthy meals using already prepared food as a foundation for the meal. You will be shown how "convenience" foods have a healthy place in everyday cooking. Simple training of some basic techniques for cooking will be taught while preparing a meal together. The class will be held in the Co-op Cooking Classroom. Cost is $7, or $5 for shareholders. To register call 802-246-2821 or email email@example.com.
Wine & Cheese Tasting: Thursday, Nov. 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. Come to the Co-op the second Thursday of every month for a free sampling of featured wines paired with cheese. Must be at least 21 years of age with valid ID in accordance with Vermont law.
Annual Shareholder's Meeting: Friday, Nov. 10, from 6 to 9:30 p.m., at New England Youth Theatre on Flat Street. The evening will include dinner, photo booth, business meeting (free Circus Yoga for kids during the meeting), and music from The Miles Band. RSVP for door prizes, and pre-register kids for CircusYoga at Shareholder Services. You must be a BFC Shareholder to attend. Producer of the Month: Featuring Laughing Child Farm on Tuesday, Nov. 14, from 4 to 6 p.m. Meet the folks from Laughing Child Farm and sample some sweet potatoes, at the Food Co-op.
Freedom from Blood Sugar Blues: Holistic Strategies for Mood Swings, Diabetes and Hypoglycemia, Wednesday, Nov. 15, from 6 to 7:15 p.m. in the Co-op Community Room. Blood sugar imbalances can affect mood, memory, and quality of life. Learn about foods and herbal remedies which can balance blood sugar. Instructor: Cindy Hebbard. The Great Turkey Tasting: Friday, Nov. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. The Co-op is roasting a Stonewood Farm Turkey for everyone to taste.
Free Class 4 Kids: Thursday, Nov. 20, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Participants will be transported to Poland, where they will be making the national dish of this fertile Eastern European country: pierogi. Kids and adults alike eat these savory (or sweet) small, pillowy dough pockets filled with cabbage, onions and mashed potatoes. In order to honor the Vermont Harvest of the Month vegetable, participants will make theirs with sweet potatoes, just to see how a global treat tastes with a local eat. Instructor: Lizi Rosenberg. Thanksgiving Sides: Nov. 21 and 22, from 4 to 6 p.m. Come to the Demo Counter for free samples of the Food Co-op Deli's famous Holiday Side Dishes.
Plaid Friday: Show your support for locally owned businesses by wearing plaid while you shop on Friday, Nov. 24. All day at the Brattleboro Co-op and other local businesses
Free Class 4 Kids: Fun with Food and Art - Animal Dreams, on Tuesday, Nov. 28, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Meet at the Brattleboro Museum and Art Center first for an up-close look at the current art exhibit followed by a hands-on creative activity led by Linda Whelihan, educator at BMAC. Afterward, participants will walk up to the Brattleboro Food Co-op Cooking Classroom and make something delicious using the Vermont Harvest of the Month vegetable: sweet potatoes. The Day Kitchen: Cozy jars, YUM — Just Add Water, Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 4 to 6 p.m. Join the Brattleboro Co-op in kicking off the cold weather season with some warm, healthful, and satisfying food featuring the "Cozy Jar" Bean and Vegetable Soup. There will be a hot pot for sampling and some other jarred gift ideas you can make from the Bulk Department's treasures. Free Event for everyone, in the Brattleboro Food Co-op Bulk Department
Project Feed the Thousands: Donate to PFTT at the Brattleboro Co-op checkouts during November and December with Bag-A-Bean! Bring in your reusable bags and containers, and for each one you'll get a bean worth 5 cents that you can give to support this local cause. Help organizers raise $90,000 for more than 200,000 meals.
