Brattleboro LL Stars to host July 9 opener


BRATTLEBORO >> The Brattleboro 12-year-old Little League All-Star baseball team will host Bennington in Game 1 of their district series on Saturday, July 9, at 4 p.m.

The South Main Street field will also play host on July 12 at 6 p.m. for Game 3 and July 17 at 1 p.m. for Game 6 if necessary. Games 2, 4 and 5 will be played in Bennington, while a coin flip would decide the location of a possible Game 7 on July 19.

Members of Brattleboro's All-Star team are: A's — Alex Bingham, Zinabu McNeice; Alex Carpenter of the Pirates; Reds — Turner Clews, Huxley Holcombe; Cardinals — Tristan Evans, Elias Gradinger, Caden Wood; Red Sox — Sam Henry, Jack Pattison, Aaron Petrie; and Magnus von Krusenstiern of the Giants.

Firecracker 4-Miler

BRATTLEBORO >> The Bill Powers Memorial Firecracker 4-Miler road race, which begins at Living Memorial Park and ends at the Brattleboro Town Common, will start at 9:30 a.m. on Monday.

Each mile is marked. There is one water station at Mile 2. Water and light refreshments are provided at the finish. There will be prizes for the male and female winners of each age group.

To preregister for a $10 fee go to and sign up before 1 p.m. on Sunday. You can also sign up for $15 on race day, between 8-9:15 a.m. at Living Memorial Park.
