Brattleboro Masons to host an open house on April 12

BRATTLEBORO -- Brattleboro Lodge of Freemasons will hold an open house at the Masonic Center, 196 Main St. in Brattleboro on Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will include a tour of the lodge, audio-visual presentation and an opportunity to ask questions about the fraternity.

Anyone who has ever wondered about the secret society known as the Freemasons and what they do behind closed doors is welcome to attend.

It is the oldest fraternity in the world and claims several Founding Fathers among its members including George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock, Robert Livingston, 13 United States presidents, world leaders such as Winston Churchill, captains of industry such as Henry Ford, and Hollywood entertainers like John Wayne.
