Brattleboro Selectboard chairman injured in bicycle crash


PUTNEY -- Brattleboro Selectboard Chairman David Gartenstein was seriously injured in a bicycle crash on Holland Hill Road on June 8.

According to sources, Gartenstein suffered a number of broken bones and was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., for treatment, where he is recuperating.

"We are deeply concerned for his welfare," said Patrick Moreland, Brattleboro's interim town manager. "We have spoken to his family and have offered our assistance in any way."

While Gartenstein is recovering, Kate O'Connor will take over the duties as Selectboard Chairwoman.
