Brattleboro Senior Center planning trip to Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

BRATTLEBORO -- The Brattleboro Senior Center is sponsoring a special tour to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum on Wednesday, Sept. 24. Space is very limited on this event taking travelers to the Petif Robert Bistro in the heart of Boston for lunch with a choice of: Quiche Lorraine with salad and french fries, roast chicken with vegetables and french fries, vegetarian croque monsieur (sandwich) with salad and french fries or grilled tilapia with vegetables and french fries. Lunch also includes hors d’oeuvres, creme caramel with blueberries, and coffee or tea.

The cost of the trip will be $107. The fee does not include a professional tour director or driver’s gratuities.

After lunch, the tour heads to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum where travelers will be able to admire the beauty of art collections of world importance. The museum holds more than 2,500 items -- paintings, sculpture, furniture, textiles, drawings, silver, ceramics, illuminated manuscripts, rare books, photographs and letters from ancient Rome, Medieval Europe, Renaissance Italy, Asia, the Islamic world and 19th century France and America. It was built to evoke a 15th century Venetian Palace.

A new addition has been added to the museum which is said to be absolutely beautiful. Years ago, the museum had a valuable piece of art stolen that made world news. An empty frame represents where the original frame once hung. The museum has a sizable gift shop.

Checks for $107 should be made payable to Banner Tours and Travel LLC, and mailed to same at 15 Lounsbury Lane, Peterborough, NH 03458. Note on check that it is for the Brattleboro Seniors, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Trip. Trip protection is available for an additional $10 and must be paid at time of reservation.
