Brattleboro West River bridge project update

BRATTLEBORO — Casting of the bridge segments will continue through the winter. Construction of the Pier Table at Pier 2 is nearing completion. The final concrete placement will be completed in January.

Construction of the north abutment is underway and will continue through the winter season. Abutment work at the new bridge over Upper Dummerston Road has begun and will continue following the winter season.

The new roadway alignment will continue through the 2016 non-winter season.

The new bridge will be 104-feet wide and is designed to carry all four lanes of traffic.

The speed limit on Route 30 near the work zone has been reduced to 40 mph. Project-related truck activity on Route 30 will continue. Route 30 may be reduced to a single lane intermittently, with flaggers regulating traffic within the work zone. The project will not have any direct effects on Upper Dummerston Road the week of Jan. 11.

The West River Trail is open. There are intersections between construction access and the trail path, and users should exercise extreme caution at these intersections. As an additional safety precaution, users of the West River Trail are reminded to keep pets on a leash in this area.

A text alert system for the Brattleboro Bridge Replacement Project makes it possible to receive text notifications of Interstate ramp closings and closings of the highway as well as Route 30. Sign up for this service by texting 313131 with the keyword "I91Brat," or by using the sign-up widget at
