Brattleboro Youth Services needs teams for annual Bowl for Kids' Sake
BRATTLEBORO >> Though Youth Service's annual Bowl for Kids' Sake event is in early May, folks are needed to sign up to be on a team this month in April.
Families, friends and teams from work are invited to celebrate the 35th Annual Bowl for Kids' Sake to benefit Youth Services' Big Brothers Big Sisters program on Saturday, May 7. The fundraising event will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with teams signing up in April for a one-hour time slot at Brattleboro Bowl on Putney Road.
Bowl For Kids' Sake is the primary fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters, a Youth Services' program that matches youth in Windham County in need of a one-to-one relationships with caring adult mentors. People's United Bank continues as the presenting sponsor with TransCanada, Brattleboro Ford Subaru, The Richards Group and GS Precision the Pacesetter Sponsors of all Youth Services' events in 2016. The goal of the Bowl for Kids' Sake t is to raise $75,000 in pledge money to help cover the cost of running the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Lane banner sponsors are still being sought.
Close to 80 children in Windham County and nearby New Hampshire benefit from the program each year and are matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister. A similar number of youngsters, from all towns in the county, are eagerly waiting to be matched with an adult mentor.
