Burke earns Colburn Memorial hardware


BRATTLEBORO >> Brattleboro Union High School student Dan Burke was this year's recipient of the Wayne E. Colburn Memorial Trophy and Award which is presented annually to a graduating senior soccer player who, in the eyes of his or her teammates and coach, has worked hard in the interests of soccer; has promoted soccer at BUHS; has shown concern for his or her teammates and other individuals; has shown good sportsmanship; and has been a team player.

The award was presented to Burke at this year's BUHS boys soccer banquet.

Coached by Paul Sather, Michael Italia and Ben Brewer, the Colonels went 4-9-1 during the regular season to earn the No. 14 seed in the Division 1 Tournament. They would then lose to third-seeded Rice in a playdown game.

Burke's teammates were Sam Ognenoff, Spencer Loggia, Jeremy Rounds, Jack Maples, Ian Fulton-Black, Jasper Reed, John Wright, Matt Dulmaine, Eamon Burke, Chris Renouf, Bradley Fellows, Owen Toleno, Sheldon Burnell, Jonah Goldenbird, Gideon May, Tanner Bell, Galen Von Wodtke, Anthony Piergentili, Declan Lonergan, Jacob Cannizzaro, Braxton Lynn, Brian McCarthy and Spencer Butter.
