Burke named BFUHS Elks student of the month

WESTMINSTER >> Brody Burke has been named the Bellows Falls Union High School Elks Student of the Month for November. Brody, a junior, is the son of Shawn and Jennifer Burke of Westminster.

Brody is an active and dedicated student in the Protective Services-Firefighter program at the Windham Regional Career Center in Brattleboro. His goal is to attend college to study fire science and become a fire fighter. His instructor at the Career Center describes Brody as "an amazing young man who not only knows what it takes to be a student, but is a value to his community." Brody takes his study of fire science very seriously and finds an average grade unacceptable. He is extremely dedicated to his training as he wants to make sure he has mastered all that he is learning, so that he does not hinder a rescue or hurt other fire fighters. Brody attends his classes prepared, with interest, with a pleasant demeanor and is helpful to all. He is a great asset to the class, his fellow students and to his teachers.

A quiet young man, Brody is super positive, attentive to the needs of others and always willing to help in any way he can. He is a leader in the classroom, always setting a positive tone for his peers, and serves as a good role model for others. Brody is a bright, compassionate and respectful young man.

When he is not in the classroom learning, Brody plays varsity football for BFUHS, volunteers on the Westminster Fire Department and has his own sugaring business.
