Grafton Village introduces Truffle Cheddar

GRAFTON >> Grafton Village Cheese, a business of the non-profit Windham Foundation, recently announced the introduction of Truffle Cheddar, an aged cheddar cheese containing Italian truffles. The new cheese joins the company's Grafton Village line of aged and flavored cheddars.

As with all Grafton cheddars, the new Truffle Cheddar is handmade using premium raw milk from small local family farms and aged a minimum of 60 days. It maintains a delicate balance between the earthy flavors of truffle and the smooth rich bite of aged Vermont cheddar.

Truffle cheddar is an ideal cheese for the centerpiece on a cheeseboard or in cooking applications including those with eggs, potatoes, soups, pasta, risotto and red meat. It is nicely paired with brown ales and with Barolo, Orvieto and Pinot Noir wines.

The new Truffle Cheddar is available in 10- and five-pound blocks, 8 ounce bars and 4 ounce bars. The cheese is now available at select specialty markets and grocers nationwide.

Wills Insurance joins The Richards Group

BRATTLEBORO >> Wills Insurance has joined The Richards Group effective Jan. 4. The Richards Group, headquartered in Brattleboro, provides insurance, employee benefits and retirement plan solutions for clients throughout Vermont and New Hampshire.

With the exception of Peter Donavan, who is retiring after 50-plus years in the business, the entire Wills staff will remain at their current 116 South St. location in Bennington and will continue to operate under the name Wills Insurance. The partnership with The Richards Group will benefit clients by ensuring that decisions and service remain "local" for years to come and will be especially good news for business customers as they will have access to more insurance carriers and broader risk management services.

As part of the transaction, the Wills building is also being purchased, ensuring continuity and stability of one of Bennington's most prominent downtown office buildings.

"The Richards Group and Wills Insurance have been 'business friendly' for over 25 years with a long history of collaboration. We are thrilled to be a part of the Bennington business community and to make a significant investment in the future of its downtown" said Peter Richards, Vice-President of The Richards Group.

"We're excited to provide the same excellent service going forward that Wills has been providing for the past 100 years while at the same time remaining local and improving on our ability to deliver value to clients," said Wills President David Newell.
