Chamber music presented by BUHS music department

BRATTLEBORO >> The Brattleboro Union High School music department will present an evening of instrumental chamber music on Thursday, Jan. 14. The concert will take place in the BUHS auditorium at 7 p.m.

Featured on the concert will be fifteen chamber ensembles, including groups such as saxophone quartets, clarinet and flute ensembles, percussion ensembles, brass ensembles and a mixed wind trio. Music will span from the Baroque era through contemporary classical and ragtime music.

The concert culminates a unit in which the 65-member band is divided into smaller ensembles that often rehearse independently. They receive coaching from area musicians, some of whom are BUHS Band alumni, outstanding chamber musicians and/or music teachers. Coaches have included Ethan Manning (BUHS '13), Julia Waldron (BUHS '15), Rob Freeberg, Moby Pearson, Alison Hale and Judith Serkin. For more information, call 802- 451-3511.
