Chamber of Commerce Community Arts Project gets off to a start

The Southern Vermont Deerfield Valley Chamber of Commerce is producing a valley wide community arts installation. In 2016 area artists are challenged to create a signature work of art using six-foot handcrafted wooden toboggans purchased from local craftsmen American Traders in Brattleboro.

The toboggans will be displayed as a group in Wilmington during July and August, and West Dover during September and October. Toboggans will be unveiled at Hayford Field in Wilmington during the 4th of July weekend.

The Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an artist and sponsor "Toboggan Speed Date" event on March 22 at the Hermitage Inn in West Dover from 5 to 7 p.m. Light Hors D'oeuvres and cash bar available. The toboggans will go to auction on Nov. 26, Artists or businesses interested in sponsoring a toboggan, contact the Southern Vermont Deerfield Valley Chamber of Commerce at 802-464-8092 or email
