Keene World Harmony Chorus resumes Feb. 6

KEENE, N.H. -- The Keene World Harmony Chorus, a teen and adult community chorus for men and women led by Lynn Mahoney Rowan and Will Thomas Rowan, is offered on Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m., starting on Feb. 6.

Participants learn to sing traditional songs from South Africa, Bulgaria, Caucasus Georgia, Quebec, Corsica, American folk and more; no previous experience or music-reading ability required. Rehearsals are held at the Keene Unitarian Church on Washington Street.

Lynn and Will Rowan are veteran workshop leaders with Northern Harmony and Renewal choruses, choral leaders for Village Harmony and Revels North, and members of the award-winning trio Windborne. They have traveled the world collecting songs.

The chorus meets for 12 weeks, from Feb. 6 to April 24, culminating in a concert (optional for participants) on May 1.

Feminine Tone seeks singers

SPRINGFIELD -- The Feminine Tone women’s chorus invites new and former members to participate in its final concert season. The chorus has been delighting Upper Valley audiences for 16 years with music from around the world. With guest musicians, the chorus will reprise some of its best selections in concerts taking place in Claremont, N.H., on Friday, May 10, and in Hartland on Saturday May 11.

Two Rivers Choir welcomes new singers

PETERBOROUGH, N.H. -- Two Rivers Community Choir, directed by Marybeth Hallinan, is now accepting new singers for the spring semester, which begins this Sunday and runs through April 28.

Rehearsals are Sundays from 3 to 5 p.m.

This is the choir’s sixth year bringing multicultural and community song to life, in a nurturing yet inspiring and challenging setting. This is a mixed choir (men, women, and teens 17 and up); all voices are welcome to join. There is no formal audition, but there is a requirement to be present at rehearsals to prepare for a performance at end of the semester (concerts are April 21 and 28). Music reading is helpful but not required. CDs and mp3 recordings are made of all the music.
