Grace Christian Fellowship
Winchester, N.H.: Grace Christian Fellowship, 81 Ashuelot St., will be having its Christmas Eve Candlelight Service on Dec. 24 at 7 p.m. The sanctuary will be lit with white lights and candles, with contemporary worship music and some old fashioned Christmas hymns. Third Congregational Church
Alstead, N.H.: A Christmas Eve Service will be held at Third Congregational Church UCC, River Street, at 6 p.m. on Dec. 24. All are welcome. There will be candle lighting and carols will be sung throughout the service. Agape Christian Fellowship
Brattleboro: Agape Christian Fellowship will host a "drop-in" Christmas Eve celebration at the River Garden, located at 157 Main Street, between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. on Dec. 24. The event will feature a variety of music including many traditional Christmas carols and traditional and contemporary Christmas poems and readings, as well as the reading of the traditional Christmas story from the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. The format for the evening is "drop-in when you can and stay as long as you like." There will be free cookies and hot cocoa and lots of singing, laughter, and conversation. Members of the congregation will have their instruments and lead the group in the singing of some of the classic and joyful music of the season.
Walpole Unitarian Church
Walpole, N.H.: The Walpole Unitarian Church Community Candlelight Service will be held on Dec. 24 at 4:30 p.m. All are invited to join in an evening of carols and readings led by Rev. Lisa Mobayed. In addition, the church offers its 15th annual Labyrinth of Lights on Dec. 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, and 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hastings Memorial Parish House, Union Street in Walpole. Jacksonville Community Church
Jacksonville: The Jacksonville Community Church will be hosting a candlelight service on Christmas Eve at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome. The church is located on Route 112 in Jacksonville.
First Congregational Church
West Brattleboro: The Christmas Eve Service at First Congregational Church, 880 Western Avenue, is at 5 p.m. and features the Christmas Story in carols and scripture Special music by the Christmas Band Senior Choir and flutist.
St. Michael's Episcopal Church
Brattleboro: Toddlers, children and teens offer a pageant Vermont-style at 4 p.m. on Dec. 24 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church on Bradley Avenue. Several years ago youth of the parish expressed a wish to make the pageant more personal to them as Vermonters; thus the church has seen different twists each year from the entrance of a live goat to the delivery of apple pie and gilfeather turnips; from gifts of cheddar cheese and maple syrup to flocks of free-range angels. All who gather this year will enjoy even more surprises. The pageant boasts a host of favorite carols of the season and concludes with celebration of the Eucharist. First United Methodist Church
Brattleboro: Candlelight services of Lessons and Carols will be held at First United Methodist Church on Christmas Eve at both 4 and 11 p.m. Come and hear the story of Jesus birth in scripture and song, culminating with the singing of Silent Night in the darkened church with each person holding a candle in a circle around the altar at midnight. Brattleboro: On Dec. 24 at 6 p.m., Community Bible Chapel will be holding a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service A party will follow at the church. All are welcome to attend. Centre Congregational Church
Brattleboro: On Dec. 24 at 7 p.m., Centre Congregational Church is hosting Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols led by Reverend Bruce W. Marshall with readings by members of the congregation and music by the choir.
Dummerston Congregational Church
Dummerston: Christmas Eve Service are at 4 and 7 p.m. The 4 p.m. service of lessons, carols and candle lighting is especially appropriate for young children. The 7 p.m. service includes the story "The Night Tree" narrated by Mark Brown. The choir will sing under the direction of Mary Westbrook-Geha and guest choristers are invited to the rehearsal on Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. The Christmas Eve Offerings will go to Groundworks Collaborative for the homeless.
Westminster West: The Congregational Church of Westminster West will gather on Christmas Eve at 11 p.m. for quieter, more meditative service. This service will provide a pause before the festivities of Christmas, in which worshipers have the opportunity to ponder the significance of the gift of the Incarnation. The story will be told in scripture and in carols: "O Come, O Come Emmanuel," " Hark! the Herald Angels Sing," "What Child is This" and "Joy to the World!" Special music will be provided by Malcolm Toleno and Nick Keil. Worshipers will have the chance to light candles signifying their hopes and prayers, as well as remembering loved ones who have died. The service will conclude with a candlelit "Silent Night," accompanied by Nick Keil on guitar.
Saxtons River: Christ's Church will host its annual Christmas Eve Service at 7 p.m. This is a family service and a time to remember and celebrate "The Story" through readings and the singing of familiar Christmas carols. The Senior Choir and the Bell Choir will be presenting special music. The Worship service will close with a sacred Candle Dance by the Rhythmic Choir and the lighting of the candles of the congregation. This is a joyful and moving celebration of the light. The offering that will be taken will be shared with Our Christian World Mission and the Warming Shelter. Christ's Church is handicapped accessible and all are welcome.
Guilford Community Church
Guilford: Christmas Eve services take place at 4 and 11 p.m. and include wonderful music and the lighting of candles. Everyone is welcome. The church is an Open and Affirming Congregation and is fully handicapped accessible and committed to providing hearing assistance and ASL interpretation, if given notice ahead.
The Jamaica Community Church
Jamaica: Christmas Eve Service will be at 6:30 p.m. and it is a joyous service of scriptures, carols, and meditation. The church has been preparing for the Coming of Light of the World, so come and join to celebrate the birth of the Christ Child. Trinity Lutheran Church
Brattleboro: On Christmas Eve at 4:30 p.m., Trinity Lutheran Church celebrates God being born on earth as a poor Jewish child — "Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." The darkness of the night recalls Calvary, and the candles we light anticipate the candles of Easter, for this infant was born to die and rise for us. With the angels we sing, "Glory to God!" Hear the stories and sing the hymns of Christmas. The service will conclude with the sharing of the bread and wine of Holy Communion and the lighting of candles. West Brattleboro: Christmas Eve service is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., when minister Rev. Lisa Mobayed will lead a celebration of the mystery and magnificence of our human journey this Christmas with candlelight, carols, readings, and a message to illuminate the way.
